I have been teaching yoga in Tunbridge Wells for nearly 10 years now having opened one of the first yoga studios in town, Pantiles Yoga in 2010. We outgrew Pantiles Yoga a few years ago and moved into our new bespoke Yoga Studio and Treatment room, Flow Tunbridge Wells in 2015. Flow is run by myself and my husband Ben Parker who has been a Registered Osteopath locally for nearly 20 years. Now 3 years older, Flow Tunbridge Wells offers a very individual pathway into safe, authentic and effective yoga and meditation practice. We are committed to nurturing the individual whilst building a community of like-minded and supportive souls.
The studio setting and environment
The ethos of Flow is to offer great teaching and holistic therapies in a beautiful environment to help you move, feel and live better. All our 8 yoga teachers and 4 practitioners have been trained to the highest standard and have a wealth of experience under their belts.
We run beginner’s classes through to Advanced Anatomy Teacher Training designed for Yoga Teachers and everything in between. Most of our daily classes are vinyasa flow based teaching with an emphasis on the breath, alignment and weaving spiritual themes and wider mindful practices into each class we teach. All classes are taught in small groups to maintain our commitment to the individual. We also offer specialist classes in pregnancy yoga, yoga for teenagers, kundalini yoga, private 1-2-1 classes, mindfulness and meditation groups. Our therapists support our work in the studio, offering osteopathy, sports & pregnancy massage as well as reiki.
We established our comprehensive workshop schedule whilst building our roots at Pantiles Yoga. This workshop programme has welcomed many internationally renowned teachers to Tunbridge Wells and introduced some exceptional teaching to our local community. We are extremely proud to be hosting internationally recognised author, teacher and mentor to Flow for his Meditation Teacher Training course 2018.
Our new range of Moving Deeper Sessions are run by myself and Ben, each session looking in depth at a specific area of the body, its structural mechanics and how and why it might be injured or damaged. Working with an osteopath offers yoga students a very specific anatomical advantage that is accessible and relevant on, as well as off, the yoga mat. Understanding our individual movement patterns and the physical habits that can lead to injury and muscular, skeletal issues. These short sessions are in addition to our Advanced Anatomy Training for Yoga Teachers which is fully CPD accredited.
Last year we branched out of the studio to create Flow Away, a series of Yoga Retreats in the UK and Mallorca. Now in its second year, Yoga Jam is a weekend retreat in Oxon Hoath Kent, 26-28 January 2018 which fuses together anatomical movement with vinyasa flow, Kundalini, Somatics, Yoga Nidra, Meditation and a wonderful Gong Bath on the Saturday evening. Our trip to Mallorca in October brought together 16 yogis in the sunshine to focus on the theme of “Know Thyself”. A week of self-discovery, healing and friendship in the stunning location of the Tramuntana Mountain range in the heart of Mallorca. We will return to Mallorca from 6-13 October 2018 with a new theme of “Relax, Refresh and Reenergise”.
Having established ourselves over the past decade we are proud to be recognised as innovators locally and delighted to see our influence across Tunbridge Wells as other Yoga studios are launched and begin to thrive.
